Learn what a clinician can assess before and during prescription GLP-1 treatment, including suitability, side effects and follow-up.

Self-managing prescription GLP-1 medication based on social media or a friend’s experience can miss important safety considerations. The treatment decision, dose changes and follow-up require individual medical judgment. Access to a medicine is not a substitute for care.

Assessment comes first

A clinician can review indications, medical history, other medicines and possible reasons a treatment may not be appropriate. They can explain expected effects, potential adverse effects and when further evaluation is needed. Do not start or obtain prescription medication from an unverified source.

Keep a route back to your care team

Ask who to contact if nausea, vomiting or other symptoms interfere with eating or hydration. Your team can review response and tolerance over time and decide whether the plan needs to change. Nutrition and activity support may also be appropriate.

GLP Done Right and burnN emphasise a broader, supervised system rather than a prescription in isolation. This educational overview is not dosing guidance. If you are already using a medicine and have concerning symptoms, contact your treating clinician promptly.
